When people have had facial laser resurfacing treatment done on them, it is a very effective wrinkles treatment they say as it helps make their skin smoother and have a good texture. In all honesty, all facial laser resurfacing is, is just a great burn from the laser which has been planted on your face. Then due to this, the aftercare to the treatment is just as important, if not more important than the actual treatment itself. As you see your face for the first couple of days after laser resurfacing, you may be somewhat shocked and stunned, but do not worry. As long ask you take care, the whole process will have been worth it. For most people, if the treatment had taken place in a surgery where you were fed some from of anesthetic, then it is most likely that you had deep laser resurfacing as a deep wrinkles treatment. But if it was done in a office style environment, then the healing should be much faster as the strain is a lot less and the skin heals a lot quicker on the whole. Here are some tips on what you should do after having facial laser resurfacing:

1) Have all areas that have been treated on sprayed with Aquaphor cream regularly. Be sure to clean the facial wounds with Cetaphil soap and cold water every six hours for the first two days. Then do it twice a day after this period.

2) It is important to put the Aquaphor ointment on in large dollops to make It certain that the areas that are treated on are damp. This is to prevent scabs forming later on. But if they do unluckily appear, then you shouldn’t scrub, rub or in fact touch any of them just leave them be for now.

3) Drink lots of fluids (especially water) as your skin will heal quicker and look better when you do this. Make sure to take on 8 ounces of fluid roughly every two to three hours for the first week after surgery.

4) Keep taking antibiotics (such as Kelflex) for up to seven days after facial laser resurfacing occurred.

5) If you were treated by the mouth, continue to take antiviral drugs (e.g. acyvlovir) for up to five days after treatment.

6) Keep taking the pain pills if they have been prescribed

7) As you may feel some mild symptoms of itchiness from three days onwards, place some cool ice packs on the treated areas for the first two days after surgery had finished. This will take away the itchy feel.

8) After the skin has healed up (should take a week or so), then put on moisturizer on a regular basis all over the treated areas so it keeps it moist and so it doesn’t dry out.

9) For women especially, don’t wear any make-up until at least seven days after treatment. This can damage the skin as it is still recovering, so bee wary. A mineral based foundation can be used however to hide the redness of the skin.

10) Finally, don’t go out into the Sun too much for at least the first month after surgery has taken place, as the skin is still very sensitive to anything. So even after the first week has finished, wear sun tan lotion (SPF 30+) if you go outside when it is sunny as facial laser resurfacing does really make all the skin go away and have to fully heal itself back up – it is why it is considered to be the best wrinkle treatment by some.
