Spider Vein Therapy

Recently, I have had a lot of people asking me about how they should go about having spider vein therapy and how they should have it. I instantly tell them that they should always have laser treatment for spider veins. I know many people who have spider veins but treat it with a cream. This isn’t very effective though. So if you want to truly bury your spider veins away, then it may be best to have laser to treat it. Even though it is quite expensive, it makes my friends feel a lot happier and they tell their other friends on how to remove spider veins.

What is Laser Spider Vein Removal?

What is interesting about removing spider veins by lasers is that it is actually non surgical which many people fail to realise. Lasers are used in spider vein therapy by placing them on the skin at specific areas where the spider vein can collapse easily. The heat that is built up by the lasers is absorbed into the vessel which makes the blood boil. This means that eventually, the vessel cannot cope with the heat and the spider vein collapses.

Does spider vein removal work for everyone?

The honest answer is yes, although there are some precautions. Although spider vein therapy does remove the spider veins eventually, there may be a time when they suddenly come back slowly. So it may come back depending on skin type you have and if this is causing the problem.

What is Spider vein removal like?

The first thing they do is that they look at what areas need to be treating spider veins. Then, they place lasers down the whole size of the vein; but start off in the worst sections. The good thing is that there is no gore (no blood come out), as the blood that usually flows through there is naturally absorbed by the body. Although the spider vein treatment isn’t very painful, it can still cause some discomfort (like having a sunburn).

How often will I need spider vein therapy?

Unfortunately as I said before, spider veins can come back again. So if you are a bad sufferer, then you may have to have spider vein treatments once a month. But some people may only have to have it once a year.

What will the downtime be like?

When spider vein therapy has been finished, then you will have to wear a piece of equipment to support you for a few weeks. This is so there is still pressure being applied to the spider veins and that it keeps it shut. Heavy bruising may be apparent for a week after the treatment. Removing spider veins from the body should happen naturally between three to seven weeks afterwards.

Finally, make sure that you don’t do any strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours, as you may damage the results of the spider vein therapy. Also, you may not see results for a while, so don’t worry, they will eventually be gone!
